Responsible service of alcohol - RSA

Note: As of 1 January 2008, a temporary freeze* on all new RSA course approvals due to the recent approval of the new Liquor Act. No new course applications will be accepted from this date.

Further information will be provided on this page as it becomes available.

* Please note, the temporary freeze only effects new course providers.

Individuals wishing to complete their RSA certification should contact their nearest course provider to arrange a training date.

With more than 12,000 licensed venues in New South Wales responsible serving and responsible drinking of alcohol has become an important issue in recent years.

As part of responsible service of alcohol, venues must prevent drunkenness, minors accessing liquor, and understand that irresponsible liquor practices lead to problems both on and off the premises.

Responsible service of alcohol training is now mandatory for people working in the NSW liquor industry, including licensees, club secretaries, permanent and casual serving staff, and security staff.

The responsible service of alcohol pages provide important information about RSA in licensed premises and include a list of approved course providers. Information on how to become an approved RSA course provider is also available.
