Exemption from (parts of) the licensees course

While exemptions to parts of a licensee's course can be granted by the Licensing Court of NSW for non-statutory modules, such as marketing, there are no exemptions from any of the law-based modules, including the RSA and the hotel RCG modules.

The application for exemption (PDF 86kb) from undertaking a course/or part of a course, should provide all relevant details, including the level and length of management experience in the liquor industry.

An application for exemption should be lodged with/or prior to, the application for a provisional transfer/new grant of a licence.

The court will notify the applicant in writing of the result within 24 hours. If granted, a copy of this notification must be:

  1. provided to the training provider when enrolling in the relevant course to let them know what modules are required to be completed; and/or
  2. attached to the application for provisional transfer/new grant of a licence.
