On Monday 26 October 2009 the NSW Government abolished Place of Public Entertainment Licenses (POPE) that were required for local venues to play live music. These reforms have made it easier for licensed venues to host live entertainment and music. Read the buzz is back an interview with licensees who have inroduced live music into their venues.
Visit the NSW Planning website for more details and information about the reforms.
Resources for licensed venues
Please read the Fact Sheet for Venue Operators which provides an overview of the reforms. We have also developed a new resource called Sound Advice - Reducing the risk of noise disturbance. This document will assist venues to ensure they have strategies in place to manage noise impacts from venue entertainment and patrons.
