Director of Liquor and Gaming

The Director is a statutory officer located within OLGR, and is appointed by the Governor. The Director’s powers, responsibilities and obligations under the liquor laws are similar to those of the Police Commissioner.

The Director can initiate investigations, take disciplinary and prosecution action and object to the grant or variation of a liquor licence or certificate of registration.

In addition, the Director can also impose conditions on a licence and make written directions, that require a licensee or staff to address a problem or improve compliance in a venue.
